Introduction

Jordan Lake One Water (JLOW) is a coalition of local governments, conservation groups, universities, water utilities, agriculture, state agencies, and private industry stakeholders seeking to to include all those interested in realizing watershed-wide environmental, societal, and economic benefits, while sharing the costs of water quality and quantity improvements.

JLOW retained Sustainable Economies to help them develop a strategic action plan that would:

  • Support the implementation of the three pillars of their vision for communities, ecosystems & the economy
  • Be collaborative & inclusive, including input from their full membership
  • Be founded on evidence-based approaches

The Solution

In partnership with TWENTYTWENTY public affairs & the JLOW Strategic Plan Workgroup, we developed a process that included:

  • Engaging members & key stakeholders through interviews and roundtables
  • An in-person strategic plan workshop in which we developed 5 strategic pillars to guide the organization long-term, and 5 key priority actions to advance the work in year 1
  • Creation of a 5-year action plan
  • Launch of the plan and new committee structure for the coalition
